In 1964 this Mustang was used in the filming of the movie Goldfinger. It was used in a chase scene in which Bond's specially equipped Aston Martin DB5 ran it off the road, with Ben Hur flair. The chase scene was filmed at Furka Pass in the Swiss Alps, shortly after the first Mustangs rolled off the assembly line.
The car appears to be painted Wimbledon White with red interior. Based on the timing of the filming of this scene, the Mustang must be a VERY early model.
The damage to the car seems inconsistent in different camera shots. The car seems to have taken some heavy damage in the door and rear quarter when 007's Aston Martin DB5 is ripping a hole through it. In the scene where the car is leaving the road the damage appears to be painted on. Then when 007 and Tilly are examining the Mustang on the side of the road, there is less damage to the rear quarter and just scuffs on the door. Was there more than one car used during filming? Or is this just Hollywood "magic?
Wolfgang Kohrn has written a very insightful article about this car, a very interesting read. So, where is this Mustang now? If you have any additional information, we would like to know!
