In 1966, these 2 Mustangs were sent over to George Barris Kustoms to be modified for the singing duo. The project was commisioned by Ford Motor Company for promotional purposes. In addition to some light use by the internationally famous '60s couple, the cars were also used in their only movie together; "Good Times".

The cars were produced in November, 1965. Sonny's Mustang was origianlly painted Springtime Yellow with a Parchment and Black Pony Interior. It was equipped with a 289-4v engine and an automatic transmission. Cher's Mustang was origianlly painted Candyapple Red with a Black Pony Interior. It was equipped with the 289-2v engine and an automatic transmission.

Barris made several major modifications to the Mustangs. The most obvious is the split grille and the 2-tone paint jobs.
